Ontario Blitz


The government of Ontario announced today that they will be expanding the workplace inspection campaign. Following last week's big box blitz, they are now turning an eye to other sectors- including essential service such as automotive.


There are currently more than 50 ministry inspectors as well as local by-law officers and police officers participating in the blitz efforts.


Some areas of focus to be aware of include high contact areas such as break rooms, compliance with recent directives and if found to e failing to comply with orders, A fine of $1,000 may be issued. As well, the province has indicated that companies that are putting customers or employees at risk could be shut down. For highly serious violations, the fine to a company or company officer could be as high as $500,000.


Communities that are planned to be part of the targeted campaign include Hastings, Prince Edward Counties, Durham, Niagara, Halton, Huron Perth, Peterborough, Toronto and Leeds Grenville Lanark.
